TRYOUT PROCESS & TEAM SELECTION

Port Washington Youth Baseball offers Select Level Baseball for ages 9U - 14U.  

Tryouts are required for players interested in 10U - 14U baseball. Teams are selected after tryouts, which typically occur in late July or early August. Roster sizes are capped at 11 players for 10U - 14U and selection is based on merit.

The selection committee consists of 4 members of the Port Washington baseball community who have extensive coaching experience, including the current head varsity baseball coach at Port Washington High School. We also use current Port Washington High School players when possible to help conduct drills while the committee performs evaluations. 

We evaluate and score each participant's skill level at 4 stations:

Ground Ball Station
Fly Ball Station
Pitching Station
Hitting Station

Timed runs from Home to 1st Base and Home to Home are included at the ground ball station.

Roster size is capped at 11 players for all divisions and selection is based on merit. In the event of a tie, head coaches are consulted for assessment on each player's performance in the previous season and will make the final decision.

Offer letters will be emailed to parents and must be accepted within 72 hours and accompanied by a $250 down payment to secure a roster spot. This fee is non-refundable and will be credited towards your registration fees. If you do not respond to the offer letter and pay the down payment, we'll take this as an indication that you do not wish to join and the spot will be offered to the next interested player.
